Karen grew up
studying theater and dance. Summers were spent at Interlochen, Jacob's
Pillow and later, New York. On a whim, while a student at Adelphi
University, she auditioned for famed director/choreographer George
Faison. "I got the job, my equity card and I was hooked... I loved
it! I had found my niche!!" Karen made her Broadway debut in "Tap
Dance Kid " starring Hinton Battle. Other B'way credits include
"Cabaret" with Joel Grey, "Anything Goes".....
with Patti Lupone and later, Leslie Uggams and David Merrick's "Oh
Kay!" with Brian Stokes Mitchell. Her dancing feet worked the famed
Radio City Music Hall and twirled down 34th Street in the Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade (twice!). Karen has also toured Europe and
Japan with Bob's Fosse's Dancin' and spent her honeymoon (minus
her honey) in the former Soviet Union with "Sophisticated Ladies".
Other New York Highlights include numerous TV specials, The
Tony Awards and "Follies in Concert".
Since relocating to
Florida, Karen's dancing shoes have received a much deserved rest. In
addition to numerous commercials and industrials, Karen was mom
Jennifer Parker on the hit Nickelodeon series "My Brother and Me"
and recurring character Dr. Perry on "SeaQuest 2032" with
Michael Ironside. Other TV credits include roles on "Sheena"
with Gena Lee Rolin, "The Cape" with Corbin Bernsen,
Nickelodeon's "Taina", "Walker Texas Ranger" the CBS
Movie "Our Son the Matchmaker" with Ann Jillian and "The
First of May" with Mickey Rooney and Julie Harris.
Her dancing shoes have been passed to daughter Lauren and
son Lawrence Wm. (affectionately known as "Booman"), although baseball
is his first love. Karen is currently sharing her TV and Theatrical
experiences as a board member of SADA, a non-profit organization
dedicated to inspiring and developing young people of the arts.
